The Reality of Make-up

I am surrounded by numerous beauty lovers and people who have the same passion for it as I do, but then of course, there are a few here and there who strongly believe “if you wear make-up you’re fake and not natural” or my favorite one, “people who wear make-up are insecure about themseleves.” Don’t get me wrong, there are days where I don’t wear make-up but since I do majority of the time (even if it means just touching up on my brows and applying mascara) it doesn’t/shouldn’t categorize me as being insecure with myself or not being natural.

the reality of make-up…

1. Natural is beauty, but makeup is glam!
In the words of itsjudyslife, this quote is TRUE! Make-up enhances your natural beauty. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, cliche, I know, but it’s true. It takes confidence to not wear make-up AND even to wear make-up so I truly believe that if you wear make-up you have to be comfortable with yourself with or without it.

2. One must learn to accept their flaws and their face without make-up on.
Wearing make-up is an art that adds glam but it doesn’t define who you are. I think that’s one thing that people who don’t care for make-up don’t understand… yes it builds confidence but it doesn’t change a person or their personality. & It certainly doesn’t make them fake. It may cover up their dark circles or acne scars but that doesn’t define them, instead, it highlights the features on their face… and yes it does wonders! For me personally, some spots on my face are lighter or darker than others so with make-up (bb creams or foundations) it helps my neutralize my face. It also “livens” me up a bit otherwise I’d look super tired.

3. My last rant about the reality of make-up is that one must know how to apply it correctly. We can all agree that there are people who wear the wrong color foundation, too much blush or messed up contour,  nevertheless, it is a must to know how to wear it the right way. The right way that works for your skin type and facial features 🙂

Review | NYX Butter Gloss

Hi there! I’ve had these butter gloss by NYX for a while now- long enough to see how they’ve been working for me- so I thought I’d share with you all swatches of the ones I bought  & pros/cons about this lip product. I paid $4.99/each at Target. Unfortunately the Target I went to only had very few colors so I only picked my favorites but I love them so much that I will be ordering more online!

These links will take you directly to the site if you want these goodies in your collection! I’ve included both Target and NYX websites (online definitely has more selection than in store!)

Pros: Glides on easily, glossy, pigmented, smooth, doesn’t dry out lips, doesn’t leave lips crusty, super long lasting, big selection of colors & affordable

Cons: Started to get a bit sticky (after 3-4 hours) and catching my hair but it wasn’t bad like other lip glosses I’ve purchased.

Name of colors: (left to right)
Strawberry Parfait, Maple blondie, Creme Brulee, Vanilla Cream Pie & Tiramisu.

Let me know if you have any questions below. Overall this lip gloss is amazing and can easily top off natural make-up look on your bare lips or a dramatic look on top of a matching lipstick.

It requires minimal make-up and less time to do your hair or pick an outfit. It also complimemts and completes your finished look really well!

Eyes of the Day | ThatsHeart Pallete

Hi all! I wanted to share an easy and quick makeup look for anyone on the go or in a rush. It’s super simple and only took me less than 30 minutes to achieve my entire make-up for the day! I wasn’t in the mood to wake up this morning, at all! I was already behind schedule and going to be late if took a long time to do my make-up so I had to pull something together fast. I love the ThatsHeart pallete because it has a blush, bronzer & highlight included so I didn’t have to use ton of other products.

Above are the products that I used today (left to right):
-Anastasia clear brow gel
-Anastasia brow wiz in ebony
-L’Oreal 12 hour infallible super slim liquid liner
-ThatsHeart eye shadow and blush pallete
-Maybelline instant age rewind eraser
-Nyx butter gloss in vanilla cream pie
-Too Faced shadow insurance
-L’Oreal’s true match lummi liquid foundation in buff beige N4
-Maybelline’s The Falsies mascara in very black (sorry forgot to include it in photo)

Below are the colors and steps I used in the pallete to create the brown & pink shimmer eyes!

Step 1: Prime eyes with any eyeshadow primer
Step 2: Color #1. Sweep this soft pink across crease as a base and transition color
Step 3: Color #2. Dust this light brown shimmer across your lid and blend it with the pink
Step 4: Color #3. Concentrate this color on the outter part of your lid and blend, blend, blend!
Step 5: Color #4. Spray your brush with MAC mineralizer (water works too) so that your brush is wet then pick up this pretty cream shimmer and pat in toward the inner half of your eye. It will show up super pigmented and sparkly!
Step 6: Color #5. Go in with a black to define the outter ‘V’ of your eyes and of course, blend so there aren’t any harsh lines.
Step 7: Color #6. After filling in your brows, use the ThatsHeart highlight as a highlight for underneath your brows 🙂
Step 8: With a gel or liquid liner, create a wing liner or regular liner to finish off your eyes
Step 9: Sorry it’s not pictured but I coated my lashes with Maybelline’s Falsies mascara!

Hope you all found these steps helpful 🙂 Like I mentioned above, this look is super easy and achievable.2014-02-27_12_20_391
